Intermediate Automotive Technician Job Opportunity at Gagnon's Tire and Auto Center
Job Overview:
Gagnon's Tire and Auto Center is actively seeking a skilled and dedicated Automotive B Technician to join our outstanding team. Applications from A-level or master technicians are also welcome. The ideal candidate should have an extensive background in automotive repair and maintenance, be adept at basic diagnosis and resolving issues quickly, and be able to complete repairs efficiently.
Compensation:
- Compensation is determined by skill level, with the potential for annual earnings exceeding $125,000 if advancement to master technician is achieved. Pay is structured as hourly plus commission, or as a full flat rate if preferred.
- Generous end-of-year bonuses are awarded based on total shop performance and are paid out during the first week of December.
- A monthly bonus plan is available after 90 days, based on the shop's overall production and individual performance.
Duties
- Conduct basic diagnostics using voltmeter, test light equipment, and scan tools.
- Inspect, analyze, and diagnose brake and suspension systems.
- Perform light under-hood repairs, including water pumps, valve covers, and timing belts.
- Align vehicles according to manufacturer specifications to ensure optimal handling and safety.
- Perform basic air conditioning and heater inspection, diagnostics, and repairs.
- Conduct driveline diagnostics and repairs.
- Internal engine, transmission, or diesel diagnostics and repairs are not performed at our shop.
Preferred Requirements:
- At least 2 years of proven experience in the automotive industry.
- Must provide power and hand tools necessary for repairs; diagnostic equipment and specialty tools are supplied by the shop.
- Proficiency in reading service information and using databases.
- Experience with powertrain diagnostics and repairs.
- A positive attitude and conscientious approach, with a strong work ethic.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Desire for ongoing growth and improvement.
- Ability to adhere to procedures and follow instructions.
- Capable of working independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- ASE certifications are considered a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to repeatedly stand, walk, push, and reach throughout the workday.
- Must have a full range of motion for reaching, bending, and stooping.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
